Product care & warranty

We work with the following leather types: Nubuck, suede, hairy and metallic leather (foils). Keep your leather and suede soft, supple, and dirt-repellent with Collonil Nanopro. We advise you to spray your Fabienne Chapot product before use and then monthly with the Collonil Nanopro protector spray.

The more you wear leather, the better it becomes. This gives your item a unique allure. Not wearing your leather item for a while? Store it in the accompanying dust bag.

Wool is a natural fibre. Fun fact: it warms you up and cools you down depending on the temperature outside. Wool is made of a breathable strong fibre. If you take good care of your woollen items, they can last a lifetime. Besides that, it is also one of the easiest fibres to recycle.

We use different types and mixes of wool. Our most used types are mercerized wool and a wool nylon mixture. Mercerized wool is treated with softeners to make the wool more easily washable and shinier. The wool nylon mixture we use feels very natural on the skin (and not itchy), the nylon makes the wool sturdier.

You don’t need to wash wool too often. Wool is naturally stain-resistant, odour-resistant, and also crease-resistant, so it requires less washing. This means that caring for wool is both easy and gentle for the planet. But when it is time to wash wool clothes, you can either wash them in a washing machine, or hand-wash the clothes at very low temperatures. When washing, use a neutral, mild detergent that is preferably Woolmark recommended. We recommend that wool garments are dried flat after washing.

Cotton is a basic natural fibre that is comfortable and breathable. It feels good on the skin. Sometimes we mix it up with other fibres.

We mostly use cotton in our t-shirts and denim. Our t-shirts are made from cotton jersey.

Jersey is a cotton fibre in a special knit technique that makes it slightly more elastic and comfortable to wear. Denim is a cotton mixture with elastane. Without elastane, it is very sturdy, but when adding elastane, it becomes more comfortable to wear. Moreover, we use cotton for our corduroy styles. Again, this a cotton mixture also with elastane for stretchability with a different look and feel.

Whenever we use cotton, our goal is to use organic cotton. During the growing process of organic cotton, no toxic chemicals are used. It doesn’t damage the soil, has less impact on the air, and uses less water and energy. Click here to find more information about organic cotton.

Cotton is not so delicate to care for, so you can often wash it at 30 degrees. Sometimes we use embroidery on our t-shirts; we then recommend using a hand-wash program. Please be careful with ironing, and always wash and iron inside-out. We don’t recommend using the tumble dryer for cotton items. Want to keep it stretchy? Don't use fabric softener, as this affects the elasticity of denim.

Polyester is a very stable fibre. We mainly use this for bottoms and in a mix with natural fibres for suits and knitwear. It does not wrinkle or shrink and does not easily get damaged.

We mainly use recycled polyester because this is better for the environment. You can check here how it is made and what the benefits are. The qualities of recycled and non-recycled polyester are the same.

Always busy? Then fall in love with our mesh styles, made from (recycled) polyester! Perfect for on-the-go because it doesn't crease quickly, and you don't need to iron it before wearing. The mesh styles are comfortable because of the elastane and it breathes more than regular polyester.

Furthermore, we use (recycled) polyester in skirts for a shinier look and combine it with elastane so the fabric gets a bit stretchier.

It is really easy to take care of your polyester items. We have more delicate polyester items, so we recommend washing them at 30 degrees on a delicate wash. After they are dry you can easily wear them again. We advise not to tumble dry, and most of the time there is no need to iron them after washing!

Linen is a natural fibre. It is a strong and breathable fabric. As it is easily grown, few pesticides are used during production. This fibre is also biodegradable and fully recyclable. Linen is therefore a more sustainable choice. You only have to iron it a little more, because it can wrinkle more.

We mainly use linen in a mix with viscose and/or polyester to make the fibre stronger. By doing so it wears out less, enabling you to enjoy your linen items for longer.

Linen can be washed at 30 degrees in the machine, but must not be tumble dried. The best way to dry it is to pull it back into shape when it is wet and to then iron it once it is dry.

Modal fabric comes from the pulp of beech trees. Modal is a semi-synthetic and breathable material that feels very soft on the skin. It does not require a lot of resources like other materials, which makes it plant-based.

We mostly use modal in our t-shirts mixed with viscose to give the fabric an extra soft touch. There are also some blouses in our collection in this comfortable and shiny fabric.

If an item is made of micro modal, the fibres are even finer. This makes the fabric lighter than modal.

It is not hard to care for the garments in this material. Make sure to wash it on a cold hand wash program. Do not tumble dry, and make sure to iron it once it is dry.

Cupro is a beautifully soft fabric with a silky look. The process of making cupro is comparable with that of viscose. It Is made by treating cellulose fibres with salt.

In our garments, cupro is mostly used as a mix with viscose. Cupro gives the fabric more depth and a silky look and feel.

It is recommended to wash cupro garments by hand or on the hand-wash program of your washing machine. Do not tumble dry. You can iron the item once it is dry to give the fabric its original look back.

The majority of our garments are made from viscose. Viscose is a natural material, as it comes from wood. Because of this natural origin, it feels very comfortable on the skin and is a very breathable fabric.

Most of the fabrics are 100% viscose, or a mix with rayon. Rayon has the same qualities as viscose but has a different processing method. 

There are different fabrics we use which are made from viscose but have a different outlook. We use a lot of viscose crepe, a viscose with a satin side (mostly used on the inside of the fabric, which feels very comfortable on the skin) or with a jacquard pattern in it. We also use viscose with a bit of lurex in it to bring more sparkle into the fabric.

Since 2020, we have been using more Ecovero from Lenzing instead of viscose. Sometimes it is mixed with regular viscose to maintain the same look, but some fabrics are made from 100% Ecovero. This is viscose which is less harmful to the environment because fewer chemicals are used in the process of making the yarn (Lenzing™ and Ecovero™ are trademarks of Lenzing AG).

We recommend using the cold hand wash program of your washing machine for our viscose garments. The fabric is known for its natural shrinkage that occurs when washing it too hot. When it comes out of the washing machine, it is important to steam or iron it whilst the fabric is still damp so that it can come back to the original shape.  

Lyocell, also named Tencel if it comes from Lenzing, is somewhat similar to modal with its soft look and feel. Another strength of this fabric is that it is almost as strong as polyester. We love to use it to create a soft denim look in blouses and dresses.

Lyocell is more sustainable than Modal or Viscose because there are less harmful chemicals used (similar to the Ecovero process) and the wastewater is not harmful to the environment.

It is recommended to wash Lyocell on the 30 degree delicate program of your washing machine. Do not tumble dry, and you can iron it once it is dry.
