AW20 Behind the scenes
Behind the scenes: the creation of our amazing Autumn-Winter '20 collection. This is how we got there.
From our inspiration trip to fashion and vintage Valhalla Paris, to our design studio on the Amsterdam canals.

First stop: Paris
Our design team always starts the season with a trip to one of our favourite cities. Print Designer Stéphane Barbier tells us more.
“These trips are a great way to find inspiration and share our first ideas about the upcoming collection. For Autumn Winter '20, we roamed the streets of Paris, looking for vintage treasures and visiting Art exhibitions. During those trips we try to absorb the vibe of the city, visiting a mix of trendy and traditional stores, and checking out the local street fashion. The beautiful thing about being a designer is how you find inspiration in just about anything: for Autumn Winter '20 we found amazing vintage faceted buttons in an old-fashioned haberdasher, old flower-shaped linocut stencils in an antique store, and fell in love with hand-painted customised table tops from the local café in the Pigalle neighbourhood."

Design studio
Back at the design studio, the creation of our handmade prints takes off and collected inspiration is converted into artworks. Print Designer Henriette Tilanus: “When we begin working on a print we always have a picture in our head, but we welcome and encourage ‘mistakes’ and unexpected turns that make the result surprising and uplifting. Each print is unique and lays the foundation of pieces you're craving to have and wear forever.”

Production studio
At the production studio the prints are brought to life on real fabrics together with our production partners. The fabrics are tested on durability and care instructions. When the final items arrive, all patterns are checked by fitting sessions to guarantee the perfect fit. Product Developer & Sustainability Manager Susan reveals more about what’s to come.
“A highlight of the collection is the use of recycled mesh fabrics. This is the first time this fabric is used in a Fabienne Chapot collection. There is a special focus on the use of sustainable materials. This new fabric in various prints is a wonderful addition to the collection.”

Campaign shoot
Final destination: campaign shoot. We spoke with Creative Marketeer Fia Hamelijnck about the process at this amazing shoot location.
"I love how everything comes together when you have your campaign shoot. From the casting of the model to the styling and the storyboard.
For our Autumn Winter '20 campaign shoot we found this amazing family house in the English countryside. The family kept it in its original state from the 16th century. The wallpaper, the art on the walls and the furniture. All antique! Truly a magical place.
The best feeling is when you see the collection come to life on set; it gives me goosebumps every time..."
